Walking For Fiona & Friends

Author: Sean Nohelty

Dear Friends,

The Notre Dame Trail launched today and as many of you know, I will be joining August 22-26 for the 67-Mile, 5-Day final stretch. Retracing the journey of the founder Fr. Sorin from Vincennes to South Bend, Indiana in 1842, we are honoring his legacy and celebrating 175 years of amazing things at Notre Dame.

One of those amazing things is the Boler-Parseghian Center for Rare & Neglected Diseases (CRND). In just 10 years’ time, CRND has made tremendous strides in researching and fighting rare diseases, most recently taking on NKH (Non-Ketotic Hyperglycinemia) -- a rare disease which affects 1 in 60,000 births, including my niece Fiona Fitzpatrick, fellow alumnus and ND Trail Pilgrims Pat & Lynda Sarb‘s grandson Owen, and so many other children across the globe.

I cannot express my gratitude strongly enough for all of you who have shown your support of my personal journey on the ND Trail with a sponsorship, contribution, signing up to Walk-At-Home and/or words of encouragement – THANK YOU! Together we are “WALKING FOR FIONA & FRIENDS and fighting to make a difference in people’s lives. 100% of all funds raised are directed to CRND to continue NKH research.

To date, hundreds of people have joined the campaign with expressions of their support, including over 100+ individual contributions, 19 sponsors, and over 26+ people walking-at-home (see list below). If you haven’t already, please join the campaign today and share with your colleagues, family and friends.
